Will Sony continue Remote Play Support for the PS4?

When Sony first announced Remote Play I got a little excited. I fully embraced the idea of playing games remotely from my PS3 onto my PSP. I was a little disappointed though when it turned out that it was only really PS1 games that you could play. There are a few exceptions, but nothing too amazing.

This got me wondering, however, about the possibilities of the Sony PS4 being able to Remote Play the then current generation of games. This would allow us to remote play PS4 games wherever we have an Internet connection, a TV, and a controller. This is of course purely speculation, but streaming video is something that is currently possible with relative ease and time will only improve the quality of this. A wireless controller with 802.11 could connect to the PS4 remotely through a wireless router and the only hardware required would be some way of getting a video signal from a router to the TV. Of course, it you decided to play Remote Play onto a computer this removes the need for the extra hardware as the video could be streamed straight to the monitor.

This of course would ideally suit the PS4 if the optical disk drive was removed as we previously mentioned. If the console relied on optical media, Remote Play would not be the most versatile option, as who will change the disk for you when you want to play another game? However, if all games are stored on your HDD, you could quite easily choose the game you required and boot it remotely.

What do you think? Do you think Sony would be wise to invest in the development of remote play for PS4 games? I think it’s something quite achievable and would love to see the feature included.
