It has all the potential of being a supreme system unfortunatly it really does not have a clue what it is? Sony essentialy used their fan base as cannon fodder for what they thought would be the next media medium Blue Ray!! Which is great do not get me wrong, but not good enough to start replacing my DVD collection. Anyhoo Kaz Hirai came out and said Sony intentionaly made the PS3 more dificult to Programe to ensure longevity, yet here we are and Sony are talking about releasing the PS4 in 2011!! I would not mind but its not like we have really seen anything from PS3 that the Xbox 360 could not do and in most case's Better!! I have the 360, original 60gig PS3 and I even imported the White PS3 for that ying & Yang effect and I have to Say Sony could do Better!! The Xbox 360 sure its a bag of bolts and I did have to have it repaired!! But it just plays and feels better!! In America they may have been making a Loss however over here in the UK they used to sell for £400 when the first came out converted to dollars at the time its equal to $800 per sale in the UK. Thats a considerable profit. As the pound has now declined i suspect their now making a loss. PS3's in the UK are approx £300 for the base model (£250 if you buy from ZAVVI<--- liquidation) which converts now to a mere £411. So if you consider that this was happening all over the globe i suspect they made thier money this way. I guess that they were making a loss, but you have to rememebr that sony is a global company. Well, it is interesting to see the productions cost that low, and certainly is the leading path to cheaper PS3s in the consumer market. But seeing as how the costs seem to still be marginally higher than what PS3s cost, assuming their research accounts for bulk prices, I can myself assume that they still sell PS3s at a loss, considering it's costing them almost $50 dollars more to make a PS3 than what they are charging for it to consumers. (Hope that makes contextual sense. @_@) But still, it is actually good that they might soon start to profit from their machine rather than just make up for it with video game sales.
