Sounds doable, but don't you already have controller settings and ingame perks on memory cards and flash sticks.

As for my controller, Sony should retire the dualshock design, strike some sort of deal and adopt "Logitech's Cordless Precision Controller" built 1st for the Ps2 and now the ps3, but heres the twist, use Saiteck's "Cyborg module" design where gamers can alternate the positions of the left analog stick and digital dpad, choosing between both a playstation style orientation and x360 style asymmetric layout.(*why? for FPS of coarse) while you can switch back to Playstation layout to play everthing else. Checkout both contollers and see what I'm describing.

@The Kiss

The idea isn't to run executable files that are saved on it.
Just for it to look at the save game data.

@rene: rather than excellent, I'd say it would be interesting to see.

Now, having said that, it would seem feasible to do it, giving players some ability to make their controllers the hosts to their preferences. This would mean that turning on a console with user profile and data stored into it could start the console with the controller's set data.

I don't know much about a controller-turned-pendrive though, it's like changing from MP3 players back to portable CD players... too big to be a feasible thing to use. Also, it should be avoided, you don't know what kind of virus will be made to wreck controllers, or even harm the consoles themselves. and without virus protection, it'd be hard to protect yourself from it.
