Just recently, Microsoft introduced their own reward system to allow Xbox gamers to earn Microsoft Points by renewing their Xbox LIVE Subscription (whether it be 1, 3 or 12 months, more points depending on the subscription), purchasing something from the Marketplace, using Sky TV player and many more things as well.
Now it’s seems that Sony is to follow suit with their own PlayStation reward quests. Points aren’t as ‘visible’ as those used on Xbox LIVE but work in much the same way. For example, you can gain points by playing a PlayStation Move game, performing an activity in PlayStation Home or Watching an episode of Pulse. What Sony want to do now though is to make point scavenging into a game in of itself by introducing new quests.
Oddly, gamers won’t know how many points they have but are able to track there stats as it were as they continue to earn the ‘invisible’ points.
Sony’s reward program is only available to beta members as of tomorrow but will be available to all next April, quite why we have to wait 4 months is unknown but if it works out, the reward system could be new incentive to PS3 gamers to continue in using their console and perhaps incite new PS3 followers to Sony’s neck of the woods.
What do you think? Seems uncanny that news of this comes soon after Microsoft unveiling their plans…
