I remember playing as Abe years ago around 1997 on the PS1 and loved the detailed animation, the puzzles and the childish sense of humor along with the platforming gameplay as you directed the mudakon throughout the various levels of the each game.
It seems now that Abe is up for a revival this month as a compilation to include Abe’s Oddysee, Abe’s Exoddus and the two original Xbox exclusives being Munch’s Oddysee and Stranger’s Wrath launch on Steam. According to the developers, the package will also be packing “a few new additions and enhancements,” though these new additions and enhancements haven’t yet been detailed but watch this space.
Called the Oddboxx, it will mark the first time that Strangers Wrath has gone multi-platform since around the year 2000 when exclusivity contracts were drawn up and signed between Microsoft and Oddworld to allow them to produce Munch’s Oddysee and Strangers Wrath, but unfortunately the latter was halted mid-development when the partnership ceased. Though thankfully, EA came along and took the reigns in 2004 which heralded the release of said game the following year.
For you PS3 gamers, in September earlier this year, Just Add Water (the developer) announced that it was working on an updated version of Stranger’s Wrath for the PlayStation 3 – complete with support for the Move motion-sensing controller which is due for release around Easter time next year.
What do you reckon? Looking forward to a little nostalgic gaming. We’re very excited!
