Sony have now made an official announcement that they are launching a slim Playstation 3. The new slim PS3 will go on sale costing £249.99 in the UK, $299.99 in the US and €299.99 in Europe and will be released on September 1st.
The new PS3 will have a new streamlined form factor making it slimmer, lighter and also use about 1/3 of the power of the regular PS3. The original PS3 (80GB version) has been reduced to £249.99. By using new components and a complete re-design inside, the slim PlayStation 3 achieves a loss of 2/3rds from it’s original size and weight.
The new PS3 still has the curved look that the original model had but rather than a shiny glossy surface the design is now textured which is inline with the leaked shots of a few months back. PLAYSTATION 3 used to be the official name and has now been put in to lowercase of PlayStation 3 which will be engraved on to the surface of the casing. A new logo has also been designed for the PS3 slim.
The new PS3 has a capacity of 120GB allowing for storage of more games, videos and other various bits of content that get downloaded while using the system.

ive been a lot of crap on the ps3 slim so i hope this is true dose any body know anything about ps4 comeing out u can add me as a friend if u have ps3 my online account is REBEL442
PS4 wont come out until 2011/2012.. always 6 years between every console and Microsoft said it might release its console in mid-late 2010 and wants to release the 720 way before Sony does.
if u have a PS2 i would advise u to buy a Slim PS3 and wait 2-to-3 years for the PS4 to come out, i doubt the price of the PS4 would be $1000, sony KNOWS how to gamble!!! PS4 is gonna be MUCH better than the 720..
