Back in October, Polyphony Digital held an event that celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Gran Turismo series. The event named DOWNSHIFT SESSION 2008 was put together to show off the highest possible quality presentations. They managed to do this successfully by achieving a super HD resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels by connecting together 4 Playstation 3 consoles and making each display one quarter of the super high def screen (ie, 1920 x 1080 pixels of 1080p Full HD time 4). The system worked successfully. A graphical detail can be seen below of how it all worked.

If this was achieved by linking four Playstation 3′s together, just imagine what will be achieved with the power of a Playstation 4 if the specs are several times higher. Maybe we will be using super high def TV’s that a PS4 can make full use of in a few years time.

I really wish I could have seen this playing live! I have GT5 Prologue for my PS3 and that looks amazing even on my SD tv. To see it in quad style high-def would be fantastic.
