At the GC Developer conference in Leipzig, Germany the president of a game development company named Crytek said that he expects that the PS4 will be launched in either 2011 or 2012 based on the launch dates of previous models of the playstation. The PS2 first launched in 2000 followed in 2006 by the Sony PS3. If we follow this pattern the release date should be sometime in 2012.
Cevat Yerli said that these dates he chose were just their own estimates and that nothing official had been released by Sony about the Playstation 4. However, he is quite excited at the thought and this is the development date they are working towards.
Is the PS4 actually real
Well, not exactly yet as it probably has just started development. But, according to Paul Holmen of Sony, back in 2006 it was announced that the PS4 would be released. Ken Kutaragi went on to say that he expected to see a PS4, PS5 and a PS6. Lets not too far ahead of ourselves here

Erm… this is kind of obvious… but if I were to say anything in favor of the above mentioned, the PS4 can easily follow the release track of the PS3… like the rest of the world has said for the past years. But… if SONY decides to kill the predictions and goes for a later date… they better have a powerful system to back it up… or else people will be pretty mad. I won’t… I don’t give a damn so long as they have good games for it.
Games are the key here. A console can have the closest to life possibilities, but if games and game play suck then they have a loser.
don’t ask me how, but i got my hands on a ps4 prototype- not a concept- a prototype. am setting up a website with images / videos of it. Am no good with hardware so am to scared to open it incase I break it. It has a 2D version of the XMB and is fully of WIP & Debug info like framerate memory usage etc. no bullshit. It menus run at 80 fps with seem too much. It also has a test on it where so many dots are created a second and counts how many dots there is and shows the fps, must be a memory test as in see how sprites it can load before the fps drops; it got to 265,000,000 dots- unbelievable. This must be a new chip made already, a ps3 would drop at about 8,100,000- just a guess.
