It seems that a designer who should’ve remained a little more tight-lipped has let go on a 2015 release date for Microsoft’s next big thing as far as the Xbox console goes. This would almost make sense seeing as Microsoft have recently been publishing vacancies for various professional development openings surrounding a new hardware build.

According to Techradar, a gentleman by the name of Ben Peterson revealed via his online portfolio that… [click to continue…]

Crysis 2: PS3 or Xbox 360?

by Martyn on March 21, 2011 · 0 comments

So Crysis 2 is coming out for general, world-wide release in a few days and the hot topic on which console it looks and plays better on is rounding up quite the following. The original game that was launched back in November 2007 wowed a multitude of gamers that had a go of it, well those that had a PC that the game could run on that is…

It was a bit of a double-edged sword and still is. The reason? Graphically speaking, on a top spec’ PC, Crysis looks fantastic and by far still beats anything currently doing the rounds even 4 years later. That said though, few gamers have the greens to afford the graphics card that will run the game without the computer melting. [click to continue…]

Just a few days ago we outlined rumours of a new piece of downloadable content coming soon for the once Xbox exclusive, now critically acclaimed sci-fi rpg/shooter, Mass Effect 2.

Now we have the details to go along with the now, non-rumour. Due for general release on the 29th of March, Mass Effect: Arrival will task the famous Commander (insert first name here) Shepherd in locating and rescuing an undercover operative. The reason? The operative may have some interesting information on the Reapers and their impending arrival or rather invasion. [click to continue…]

About a month ago, we were looking forward to the big titles that would be all set to do well over at the British Academy Video Game Awards (BAFTA’s). Now we all know, were the results as you expected?

The games that stood out amongst the crowd had to, most definitely be, Quantic Dream’s PS3 exclusive, Heavy Rain and Bioware’s (now not so exclusive to Xbox) Mass Effect 2. [click to continue…]

In the gaming world, it’s been quite a while since new downloadable content has been available ever since ‘Lair of the Shadow Broker’ which finally lifted the lid on the story behind the being that was alluded to in the first title of the Mass Effect trilogy. Now though, we’ve been seeing some hints and rumours at a new piece of DLC named only as “Arrival”. [click to continue…]

Deus Ex: Human Revolution finally has a release date scheduled for August 25th in Australia then the following day for the United Kingdom. So it looks as though we still have quite a wait until then, but that said, this should give the developers plenty of time to really polish up the title to a decent shine and keep if free from the usual bugs and glitches. We’ve already reported in a previous post that various consoles over the course of this year could be going down in price, allowing those more frugal of gamers to part with their hard-earned cash.

Well it now looks as though Microsoft may be the first to cut the price of their Xbox 360 console this coming June, so says top analyst Michael Pachter. [click to continue…]

A survey conducted by Microsoft has revealed a rather astonishing figure… That 13% of gamers hooked up to Xbox LIVE marketplace, spend on average over £100 a month on various things ranging from movies to full games.

September 20 for release of Gears of War 3

by Martyn on February 23, 2011 · 0 comments

It’s been a loooong time coming, but it’s finally within our sights.

The first in the trilogy broke new ground with a fantastic, magnetic cover system and very gratuitous but gratifying gory gameplay from the outset, i.e. The first time I got to chainsaw a Locust Hoard soldier literally in half from the head down.

The underpinning story follows Marcus Fenix who, originally imprisoned for abandoning his to post to try and save his father, Adam Fenix, is freed by close friend, Dom. From there, along with his fellow comrades, takes on the Locust Hoard who have chosen to attack Sera (the humans home planet). [click to continue…]

The assassin known as Ezio is out again in search for his inventor friend, Leonardo Da Vinci. Available for both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 (at the same time), the DLC, which has been titled ‘The Da Vinci Disappearance’, tasks Ezio to seek out Da Vinci after he gets himself kidnapped by evil cultists.

Set a little after the fall of the Borgias, the additional content provides two new locations as well as extra gameplay features. [click to continue…]

You’d probably think that Halo couldn’t be taken any further and you would probably be right. But a logo for Halo 5 was spotted during a Channel 4 press visit to Microsoft HQ in Redmond, Seattle.

That said, where’s Halo for in all this. At the moment, many of those in the industry are coming to the conclusion that this just an in-joke (which we don’t find very funny but we guess that’s what you’d expect unless you were ‘in’ on it). [click to continue…]
