Could $150 Wii being making way for Wii 2 next year?

The Nintendo Wii has for a while now, been seen as the odd one out in the console war leaving the competition largely between the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. For many months, both analysts as well as gamers have been saying it’s high time for Nintendo to do something about it and even though the Wii broke new ground with it’s motion-sensing tech, it’s all old hat now with the top two consoles pretty much saying “whatever you can do, we can do better” and that they have –  The PS3 has Move and the Xbox has Kinect.

With sales steadily in decline and in a bid to strengthen themselves as firm market leaders, it has been reported by many websites that the Wii manufacturers are planning on slashing the price tag of their console down from $199 to just $150 as well as including a copy of the much loved Mario Kart Wii as of the 15th of next month. Too late for Wii 2?

It may be too little too late for Nintendo’s next console according to analysts. This doesn’t bode too well for Ninty as it’s safe to say they did pretty well for their previous motion-sensing console. We’ve heard from him before with regards to Nintendo as well as Microsoft, this time Michael Pachter has said that… [Read more...]

The Wii: “If they were to price down to $99, they would explode”

Ok, so the Nintendo Wii WILL NOT literally detonate due to same hardware fault if it just do happens to get marked with a less than $100 price tag. It was said by EA’s head John Riccitiello who stated in an interview with Industry Gamers, that… [Read more...]

Nothing ground breaking for Wii 2

Since it’s original launch back in 2006, the Nintendo Wii broke from the mould of console gaming (at the time) with something that had been continually tried and ended up failing. This was motion-sensing gameplay.

What is agreed though, is that the Wii was the first to do this, and do it well with nay sayers having to take a step back as sales continued to reach skyward. [Read more...]

Nintendo Wii and the fight against Parkinson’s Disease

A retired police officer who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease was interviewed by the BBC, in which he stated that…

“I’ve had the Wii for two years and I’ve found it really useful, especially the balance board… You can actually see where your centre of balance is on the TV, so you can see how you’re improving. It also assists with general fitness and suppleness.”

For quite a while now, Nintendo’s motion-controlled console, the Nintendo Wii, has been noted for it’s benefit towards a person’s health due to the individual required to produce movements recognised by the console’s sensor to trigger actions on-screen. [Read more...]

No Wii 2 til’ 45 million Wii units sold

Just to add to the rumor mill, so far we have heard that we’re not going to be able to play on the Wii 2 until at least 2012. Now it seems, according to Nintendo America’s Reggie Fils-Aime, that there aren’t any plans right now to bring out a second Wii console.

The Nintendo Wii is still doing well as the 30 million mark has already been reached, so is there any need for a number 2? [Read more...]

No new Wii console til’ 2012

With sales of PlayStation Move doing reasonably well at the moment, it might as well be Sony saying ‘hey look, we con do motion-controlled gaming too, and better’. Will Nintendo retaliate and bring their cards to the table? Whenever the differences of each console are compared, it usually always falls into a war of words between fans of Microsoft’s Xbox and Sony’s PlayStation 3 with Nintendo’s Wii being left out.

But back in the day, Ninty was mocked and ridiculed in that their new console would never sell, could never compete against Microsoft and Sony but years since it’s release, it’s only now that motion-controlled gaming is becoming the new fad and what everyone is talking about. It’s safe to say that Nintendo did it first, the Wii just needs to hold it’s place. [Read more...]

Do Nintendo need to skip to the next-next gen with the Wii2?

The Nintendo Wii is a massively popular games console. I would say it has far exceeded initial expectations and perhaps even shocked Sony and MS. And it has done so on old-generation graphics. However, the novelty of the control method has begun to dwindle somewhat in my opinion. All the new releases I see are a re-hash of games that have been done already, or require an expensive new piece of hardware to be bought (think of the Mario Kart steering wheel, golf club, fishing rod, maraccas…) the list goes on.
