Can our videogames survive on great visuals alone?
The list of games with great visuals is actually longer than you think with such games including the obvious Crysis and Cysis 2 as well as including a few others such as, Borderlands, Metal Gear Solid 4, Final Fantasy XIII, Mass Effect 2, Splinter Cell: Conviction, Uncharted 2, Killzone 3 and either of the Gears of War games.

We’ve come along way since the days of the wired controller, like the image to your left of the Nintendo NES controller. Gone are the days that gamers have to be permanently tethered to a console like a dog tied to a lamp post.
Previous iterations of wireless controllers have since been available that use a receiver to plug into one of the controller ports on the system but nowadays this technology has become intrinsically part of entertainment systems the world over.
When looking at the tech we have surrounding us today, you’d think we should have had this all for ages by now. Speaking of the likes of Kinect, Move and the Wii, you would be forgiven in thinking that one day, possibly in the very near future, we’d give up on controllers and cameras altogether, rather opting for pure brain power instead. Images like the one here on the left have been leaked that detail patents from Sony trying out some nifty experiments with regards to how gamers use their controllers on something that never quite saw the light of day.
It looks pretty compact, yet we’re thinking that maybe something like this could have been done by using some good old ingenuity and silver duct tape, and perhaps somebody out there already has. [click to continue…]

Deus Ex: Human Revolution finally has a release date scheduled for August 25th in Australia then the following day for the United Kingdom. So it looks as though we still have quite a wait until then, but that said, this should give the developers plenty of time to really polish up the title to a decent shine and keep if free from the usual bugs and glitches. Sony’s newest portable gaming system, the NGP, comes heaped to the brim with features to wow even the most critical of gamers. During it’s lengthy marketing campaign, the NGP was said to have power equal to that of the PlayStation 3 console. I winced at this as thoughts of disbelief dimmed my view somewhat of the peppy, little handheld. [click to continue…]
The Slim Sony PS3 rumour has been moving around for a few months now. The latest we hear comes from an anonymous French retailer who claims there is a low-profile slim PS3 and that the said console will be launched in September around Europe for 300 Euros. This will drop the price by 100 Euros that you pay now for a regular PS3.
The new slim PS3 is being touted as a “limited edition” version of the original PS3. If that’s true then is appears that both the slim/limited edition model will retail side by side with the fatter older console. [click to continue…]
With the latest firmware release fresh in our minds I got wondering about the firmware updates that i REALLY want. I personally would love to see a bit of MS Exchange email support in there, and also in-game audio chatting. When I used to have a 360 I would quite often just chat to my mates outside the game so as to not listen to all the annoying people singing down the mic.
So, what would you really want in a firmware update then? Feel free to vote, and if your option isn’t there leave us a comment, its always nice to know.
When the PS3 was first launched I heard rumours that the cost to build one was over the $600 price range… actually $690.23. iSuppli are a market research company who like to keep track of things like this and in a recent strip down of the latest version of the PS3 console they priced a new model up at just $448.73. This still could mean that Sony make a loss on each console sold… but the good news is that the gap is getting smaller.

I was just browsing the internet super highway and found this little cookie on the Konami Website:
MGS Coming to XBox??
It has caused a lot of speculation as to the meaning of the picture since the ON symbol somewhat representsa similarity to that of the XBox 360. However, the symbol is a universally recognised ON symbol, which could have been conveniently coloured XBox Green just to start speculation.
Also, note the line within the ON symbol is not a solid line, but rather an exclamation mark. Rumors are pointing to the possibility of a multiplatform Metal Gear, either on the Mobile level, such as iPhone/ Nintendo DSi, or a full blown Multi-Platform release.
Whatever the true meaning, Konami has wanted us to get thinking and talking and it sure has done that! Let us know what you think over in the forums.
